Wood-elves, or Silvan Elves, were a class of Elves that lived near the Blue Mountains. They were added to the number of High Elves, and they shared the lands with the Dwarves.

 

Silvan Elves were of Nandorin descent but they were mainly governed by Sindarin and Noldorin rulers. Examples of such rulers were Thranduil, king of Northern Mirkwood, Amdír and his son, Amroth, who ruled over Lorien, and Galadriel and Celeborn, who too ruled over Lorien.
